Prof M Kasim is former 89 batch Broadcast Engineering Service officer. After serving DD India for about twenty years he moved to academics in 2009. In DD he discharged responsibilities in diverse domains as installation, commissioning, operation, management and planning  of broadcasting facilities and services. He has been trained at Central Training Institute NHK in 2002 and later also worked as ABU Researcher at Science and Technical Research Laboratory NHK during 2005-06. He has served as Advisor Broadcasting with Telecom Regulatory Authority of India during 2015-17 where he was involved in development of regulatory and policy framework for broadcasting sector in India.

Currently he is working as Professor Media Technology and Director of AJK Mass Communication Research Centre (MCRC). He has been the Director of Internal quality Assurance Cell, of Jamia Millia Islamia, where he was responsible for national and international accreditation and ranking of Jamia Millia University. Exploring use of emerging media technologies and tools for media design and communication are a few areas of his interests.
