Chilkuri Sushil Rao is a journalist and a documentary filmmaker. He has been a journalist since 1988. He is currently Editor-Special Reports, The Times of India, Hyderabad. The documentary films that he has made have been screened in several film festivals across India. Some of them have won awards.

Sushil Rao holds a post-graduate degree in journalism and is also gold medalist from the Department of communication and journalism, Arts, College, Osmania University in Hyderabad. He has further educated himself in several subjects, most of them through the NPTEL programme of the Government of India. And has also done a course in documentary film making organised by the Indian Documentary Producers Association (IDPA).

Apart from this he has also educated himself in various aspects of film making through the Cinepreneur programme offered by the Media and Entertainment School and T-Hub in Hyderabad. A journalist for the last 35 years, he covers defense, Indian diaspora, politics and the film industry.
